A tragic multi-vehicle crash in El Monte, CA, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, left one person dead, according to authorities.

Officers from the Arcadia Police Department responded to the collision at the intersection of Lower Azusa Road and Dufree Avenue just before 3 p.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered several vehicles blocking lanes, and with assistance from the Arcadia Fire Department, first responders determined that one driver had succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Officials have not confirmed the total number of vehicles involved or if there were additional injuries. Footage from the Citizen App showed extensive damage to at least two vehicles, with emergency personnel attending to a patient nearby.

The Arcadia Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is actively investigating the incident, and authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased.
